Dewey Dell "persuades" a man at a drugstore to give her medicine.  (I think to get rid of her baby).  She complains that it isn't going to work.  Darl went to Jackson on a train.  He has gone crazy.  Pa took Dewey Dell's money that she had saved up.

Jewel gets angry and wants to kill Darl for lighting the barn on fire.  They're deciding if they should get cash to a doctor, or if they just go to town and get Addie in the ground.  Jewel and Gillespie fight.  Cash went to a doctor.
