7-3; Catch-22

Chapter Twenty – Four

Milo is a big boss in the Black Market; he uses Air Force planes to send shipments. He even contracts with the Germans and Americans. The camp is attacked by the enemy and Milo stops it. Milo is struck with a couple great ideas.

I think it’s hilarious that he’s using the Air Force Planes to make the shipment. I mean he even put his logo on the planes. That’s great. I wonder what they’ll do when they catch him. I mean the governments use him, so what would they do when it comes to the public’s view. It will be interesting.

Chapter Twenty – Three

This chapter was all about the whores in Rome and the men. How Hungry Joe wants to jump into the fun, but want to go get his camera. And how Nately starts an argument with someone and doesn’t get enough time with his whore.

I hate whores. It shouldn’t be accepted. It’s gross. I’m not going to comment further on this chapter.

7-1; Catch-22

Chapter Twenty – Two

We finally learn who Snowden is. He is a squadron flyer that died when Yossarian lost control of the plane. We also learn that Milo, the black market guy, is really a prosperous guy. He is considered a leader too many people across the world. While him and Yossarian are on a mission Milo sleeps in palaces and Yossarian sleeps in the plane.

Milo’s a brilliant swindler. He has the whole world wrapped around his fingers. He could probably stop the war if he wanted to. But then again Peace isn’t good for business, in the Black Market area.

Chapter Twenty – One

Yossarian’s unseemly behavior has finally become a problem for Colonel Cathcart. They talk about how Yossarian shows up naked to his medal presentation, because he didn’t want to wear a uniform, and something about him always disturbing the mission briefings. So Colonel Cathcart is trying to stop it to impress General Dreedle.

At least Yossarian’s behavior has elected some consideration among his superiors. I just hope they do something instead of standing around like nothings happening. Yossarian and his buddies are a threat to the whole squadron and others around them. The Colonels and General need to do something.

6-2; Catch-22

Chapter Twenty

The Chaplain meets Colonel Whitcomb on his way home and the Colonel accuses him of some weird things. Colonel Whitcomb accuses him of selling suspicious purple tomatoes and signing Washington Irving’s name on official papers. The Chaplain is quite unhappy because he just can’t seem to help any one.

At least one man worries for more than himself or when the next trip to the whore’s room will be. I feel sorry that everyone yells at him about what’s happening. I hope nothing bad happens to him.

6-1; Catch-22

Chapter Nineteen

Colonel Cathcart makes the Chaplain pray before each of the bombing runs but the Chaplain suggests the men should be included, so God would not punish them. After which the Colonel forgets the idea. The Chaplain also mentions the men’s unrest with the mission numbers going up and up. Unfortunately the Colonel ignores him.

The Colonel is an idiot, doesn’t he know that to be a good superior you have to be good to your men. To have them do their best you need to be good to them. Even the superior in this book, who should know well, don’t. It’s amazing.

5-3; Catch-22

Chapter Eighteen

Once while in the hospital Yossarian was asked by the doctors to pretend to be a person who had died that morning, but whose parents were going to be coming to visit that day. They wrapped him up and then Yossarian visited with the dead soldiers parents.

That was rude and uncalled for. No one should be allowed to ever impersonate a dead man just to please the parents. That was rude and not necessary.

Chapter Seventeen

Yossarian makes it to the hospital. But they want to discharge him soon. So he and Dunbar get a list of ailments that are fatal that they have. The doctor won’t ground them though. He says to fly the 55 missions and then go talk to him.

I don’t get why the people in charge won’t send them home. They are clearly a danger to everyone including themselves. They should be home in a psychic ward, not out in a plane bombing places.

5-1; Catch-22

Chapter Sixteen

In Rome Yossarian meets a prostitute and falls for her. She calls him a pig but sleeps with him anyways. In the morning someone walks in on them. They hurry and get dressed and run out of the room. After, Yossarian professes his love to her. She gives him her number, which he tears up in frustration. In the end he decided to go to the hospital because the mission number was just raised.

Well, I guess everyone has their problems/faults but this is an interesting look at some. I don’t agree with prostitution at all. This was just one of those chapters.

4-3; Catch-22

Chapter Fifteen

They get yelled at and are told they have to do it again because they didn’t do it the first time. Yossarian thinks that because the Americans didn’t have aircraft fire that they wouldn’t either. Yea right! Most of the squadron dies. Yossarian lands the plane and immediately goes for emergency leave to Rome.

That sucks that they have to go back and do it, but I guess it serves them right for not doing it right the first time. I’m sorry for those that died because they wouldn’t have if they had done it the first time. Oh well, I guess.

4-2; Catch-22

Chapter Fourteen

The squadron is finally sent to bomb Bologna, but Yossarian doesn’t feel like it. So pretending there is intercom problems he forces the squadron back. When they get back he concocts a story about the cloud cover being to dense. Only problem is the Americans bombed it alright.

I would be scared to go bomb some place too. Maybe they won’t have to bomb it anyways. That would be nice for the crazy group.

4-1; Catch-22

Chapter Thirteen

In this chapter we learn that Yossarian’s superior tried to give him a medal for bravery. Apparently Yossarian took two passes over a target to make sure it was destroyed. Someone died during the run so the leaders gave Yossarian a medal to stop the criticism. We also learn about the Force of nature Major de Coverley, who is brilliant. Yet Yossarian is able to move the bomb line on him. Go figure that.

I’m still waiting for a definite reason for the book. I mean you can only meet so many people. Although the book is good for a good laugh.
