Well the next morning, Stubb tells Flask that he had a dream that night.  He says that he dreamed that Ahab kicked hime with his ivory leg.  He tells him that some old guy in the dream told him it was an honor to be kicked by such a man.  Well, i think that its a pretty weird dream, but whatever.  Anyway, Stubb finishes telling the dream, because Ahab shouts out to the crew to be on the lookout for whales.  So as it says in the book, 'The Pequod's work has begun.

 Ahab maintains total control on deck.  He never rests and always paces back and forth on the deck.  When is 'peg leg' hits the wood it echoes throuhout the whole ship.  Stubb complains about the pacing, and so Ahab and Stubb get into a rumble.  Stubb backs down however.  Ahab relizes that smoking doesn't soothe him anymore and doesn't suit his state of mind, so he throws his pipe overboard and keeps on pacing the deck.  I think that it would get annoying listening to Ahab.  I probably would have done the same thing Stubb did.
